    Hey all,

I've posted the first three chapters of Feeling Gravity's Pull which I intend to submit to a few agents shortly.

At around 2600 words for all three chapters should I perhaps submit more than the stated first three or stick rigidly to the submissions criteria?

Love to know peoples thoughts on my submission too.

    Cheers

    Geoff

Geoff, I’ve just read it and commented.

I think you could send a lot more. Whenever I’ve seen an agent specify a wordcount as well as a number of chapters (and they don’t very often) it’s been something like ‘the first three chapters or 6000 words’.

There’s no reason why you couldn’t change the chapter breaks to suit the amount of work you want to send out, so long as you don’t go to the opposite extreme. You can always re-jig them when you’re signed up with an agent and doing the final edit.

    Good luck.

I'd send about 10,000 out to an agent or publisher, every time. They don't have to read it all if they don't like it, but if they have it, then they can if they like. It's pretty easy to make that many words occupy three chapters.

I don't know where your work is, though, for me to have a look at it. Could you post a link, do you think?

Love the title, by the way. I am hopeless at titles.

Thanks for all the comments so far.

Dee, I've reworked the end of Chatper 3 slightly.

Colin, I've added a little more. Does this give you a better feel for the story?

Well I've certainly been given a lot think about from all your comments. Which got me thinking, I would be interested, really interested, to know what people don't like about my writing and indeed if it drives you to it what you hate about mine and this kind of writing, being as specific as possible.

Thanks looking forward to the crits already.
