Elspeth, how do you get those two dots above the A in "Another" like that? And what does that mean? Is that similar to ~, which stresses the accent?

Is this a UK thing? I don't have the pounds symbol on my keyboard either, just $ sumbol.

Yeah, I noticed that but I have a azerty keyboard coz I'm in France and so I can also do é,è ç à and even ê as well as ä - what a repertoire, eh?!

oh, what it means - it's a pronunciation thing (but I did it by mistake)- I think it lets you read two vowels separately as in Anaïs (Anay-ees) rather than Anais (Anace)

The character map allows you to select and copy/paste stuff like - Ą æ ¶ Ø ý Ǻ and your fave - Ä.

But am I the only one curious about who the editors of these places are? I like to know to whom I am submitting, otherwise you just can never tell - sounds gnomic but you know the internet writing community is a small place.
