This may be wide of the mark but would it be possible to split one novel of 220,000 words into two?

Each part would have to stand up on its own as a novel with its own story arc but it might be worth considering?

Others may disagree but I'd have thought that having two sequential novels to sell might not be a bad thing?

Also - a cut from 220,000 to 120,000 is a lot. What is the genre and what are the outer limits for that genre?
