Just wondering what sites people use for blogging. I have just changed my blog to wordpress.com. I used to have a website which linked to a blogspot.com blog (google's own blog site). It was very easy to use but when my domain expired I didn't want to pay for another two years and didn't the blog on it's own. I wanted the sun and the moon.

The advantage with wordpress.com is that it allows you to have multiple pages, so works pretty much like a full website.

I use Typepad, because I find WordPress (VL uses it) impossible to get on with - though I think it's got easier since then, and as you found, Blogger has very little scope. You do have to pay for Typepad, but very little, and I've found their real human tech support very friendly and helpful.

Nice blog, Colin - well done. I use Wordpress too and get on well with it. Occasionally it will decide to do something weird like lose all the formatting or pictures when I press save - but it has improved since I started blogging a year ago and I don't have many problems with it. I wish it would allow Java widgets, but it's only a minor inconvenience that it doesn't.

I'd like to see a few more widgets on there too, and to be able to fully customise pages with fonts and sizes and colours would be nice - you can do it, but you have to pay for the CSS editor. But if I had all of that, I'd never get anything written because I'd spend all my time playing with the settings. I spend way too much time worrying whether it looks okay when I don't have the same level of criticism of other sites - I just read the blog and get on with it.
