  • Should I still continue finding an agent?
by Ginnyg at 13:04 on 30 July 2009
Hi I'm new to this forum. An agent recently got in touch with me to say he's interested in representing me. I sent off my manuscript to lots of agents initially. Although I got mostly rejections a few agenys have requested to see the full manuscript. Do you think I should send it to them now I've 'found' an agent? I haven't signed with this particular agent but I have agreed make a couple of revisions to improve my story. He seems nice but should I still be casting my net far and wide and not just going for the first agent that shows an interest?

    Thank you

    Ginny

Yes, carry on sending your manuscript to the other agents. Nothing is certain until you sign with one of them and at this stage it's best to keep your options open.

Yes, definitely send your manuscript to the other agents who have requested the full. I wouldn't bother sending out any new submissions at this stage, though, but would wait and see how things pan out with the irons you have in the fire.

Opinions differ on this, but personally I would inform the agents who have requested the full, "in the interests of honesty" that other agents have done likewise. No harm in a friendly hint to let them know that they have competition. That's what I did, anyway, and I found it made them come back to me pretty quickly!

Sorry, coming late to this, and agreeing with everyone else. Honesty is good at this stage, as is them knowing that others also think well of your work, and that they've got competition...

Very best of luck with it!
