JB, I just think you can read that sentence in two ways, even given the "I hate..." bit. As in the sense that he's using himself, the "I" as an example of any given editor, not actually his personal taste. But yes maybe he does hate vampire stories in which case by all means equality for the dead etc

    Definitely quality for the undead

To be fair there are vampire tales and vampire tales - the kind where the girl is a vampire and her brother is a were wolf - or vice versa - and everyone has lots of sex? Paranormal romance

Terry, the story was for Black Static but it has the same editor. I used SF loosely. It is a dark fantasy story and was marketed as such.

I'm off to chomp on a few editors' necks.

I guess all I mean is I don't like that prejudice in anyone. It's prejudging. They might overlook the vampire story that would change their life or make them a millionaire, because they've decided that it's an old hat theme and nothing new is possible. In that, I think they are incredibly wrong and also negative towards creativity. The editor clearly loved my story. He wrote a whole page saying that. Then he rejected it because it was a vampire story. That - excuse the pun - sucked.

'They' is used as advisedly as 'we'.
