Two encouraging rejecs, one standard. Am about to sub to one agent i'm keen on and have been polishing and polishing my synopsis and cover letter. And i think i'm going to have another read-through.
I know the feeling! I had to fork out nearly twenty quid to have my manuscript sent over to America the other day! They wanted to read the ENTIRE manuscript, not just sample chapters! Man, I hope this pays off in the end!
I did get back an interesting reply from one agent I queried. She seemed to be under the impression that people prefered Urban fantasy rather than traditional fantasy (not that I consider my fantasy 'traditional' really). I have to wonder about this, because I pop into my local bookshop on a regular occassion and often do see a lot of 'traditional' novels still being printed--though I'm not too sure what counts at 'Urban' fantasy.
Still, it's no biggie. I guess this agent just has more luck touting urban fantasy than traditional ones. Fair enough I suppose--though on another side of the scale, I did a little check into this agency and they don't seem to have deals sorted in the fantasy department--more on the romanitic side. Still, I guess even agents have to make a living.
Then again, I'm still waiting to hear back from at least thirty others I sent off to. Email queries are great, save on paper no end!
Indeed. I just wonder if there is a way whether I can get them to refund my postage if they don't take it. Would be nice if agents did that--still, never mind.
