    In the course of my recent intense market research, I have learnt that at the New Yorker, the base rate for fiction is $1.00 per word.

    So for an 8,000 word story, that's $8,000. Or about £4,000 - £5,000.

    I'd really like to get religion now so that I can pray! Some day. Some day!

    It really doesn't sound possible. I think my sources must be wrong. It was from a Zoetrope thread....
