For those wondering how to advertise a self-published book, might I suggest the tool sitting conveniently at your fingertips.
Threads on discussion forums, links on 'Showcases' and personal websites, banner ads on online diaries, spread across web-rings. An effortless means to get your message to those most likely to take interest in it, and essentially without cost.
Also, if you've ever used Paintshop, you'll know it doesn't require much time or any skill to do it.

It's funny you mention that, IB! I just noticed the other day when Googling flash fiction publications that I kept coming up with out WW threads!!!

Terry, I've only just seen your post, but I did have a look at that site and found it interesting. One drawback I can see immediately is that it's a US site, and might not be geared up to obtaining UK ISBNs, which is a different system. I assume the book would be published in the US so any copies would have to be shipped to the author to promote here. They appear to be offering a more reasonably priced service than many of the POD companies - but intensive investigation and costing is what's needed before making self-publishing decisions IMO.
Did I see your name on the BeWrite site once? And do you know anyone who's been published with them? I believe Jay Mandel - who is a member of WW - had a number of books published by BeWrite. Pabd is another that might repay some investigation. In the end though, assuming that the work is well-written and presented sales are really down to presentation, promotion, and good old luck.
Nell.

NB A Double dose of good presentation can't be bad either! (See last sentence.)

Thanks for the comments. I've sent you a WWmail about BeWrite.
