Need help from any level of writer beginning to expert  cafmike at 05:14 on 20 September 2008

ok I have always wanted to write a book, but I am just not good enough. So I want to do the next best thing. Write part of a book. I looked around the internet but I just couldnt find a site that did this and I was shocked. So I created one. I just started it. I need some help though. I think this could be amazing.Just Imagine writing a book that gets published. I think this is very possible. With the power of the internet there will always be somebody working on the book, editing and we will have thousands of ideas and suggestions.

The purpose of the site: To write a fiction book. Please help if you can, I think I made it pretty easy to use. We dont even have a beginning yet.

cafmike, I wish you luck in your venture, but to be honest, if I had a penny for every writer who came on the writers forums like this.....the reason why you've looked around the internet and not seen similar examples to yours, is not because no-one's thought of them, but because no-one wants to join in; the majority of us are very busy writing our own novels.
I suggest you get stuck in to writing yours and see how far it takes you.
Good luck.

Cafmike, welcome to WW.

I can only echo what Naomi has already said. If you feel unable to write a whole book, then cobbling something together with others who are equally unable/unwilling to go it alone will result in an unholy mess that none of you can agree about. It will not magically morph into a publishable book.

Sorry to sound negative but, as Naomi says, it’s been tried before and has always failed. Writing is essentially a solo craft. Concentrate on improving yours, and we’ll be more than willing to help.

Hmmm... I suspect that it would be considerably more difficult to produce a publishable book in this way than it would be for one person to write one alone. I'm interested in being proved wrong about this, though!

Also, if you feel that you want to write, but not to the length of an entire novel, you could always focus on writing short stories.
