  • Manuscript headers and footers.

When you submitted your ms did you put your surname and title of the book on each top right hand corner. I've put the page number on the bottom in the centre. I remember reading I should do this, but now cannot find the article or book page in which I read this info.

Do people still do this? And is it surname and title? (I think it is)

I'd be grateful for any help.

    Many thanks.

Hi - I put both ( Full name) and ( Title)
In my first attempt, I fired it off to two agents, and both read it and got back to me within 24 hours - so I'm guessing I did the right thing - I put them in a small 8 font in grey - but so long as it's there, I'm guessing it's so they don't loose bits of your work!

    GOOD LUCK!!!

Yes, I do too and, like Ladybird, I put it in a smaller font and in grey so it doesn't stand out from the main text.
It's done in the (hopefully!) rare event that they lose the top page.

Yes, me too - though not in a smaller font because my ancient PC won't do it! In fact, I put my page number with it, like so:
    THE CHANGE/Susie Nott-Bower/ 1
    - so that all the information is up there and the rest of the page is just the novel itself.

Checking back over my mss, I see that for most I've put in an email address, rather than my name, just in case they lose the covering letter.
