Do you always send an SAE?  Karris at 10:30 on 31 August 2008

I was wondering if everyone always sends an SAE with their partial subs? Some agents don't specifically ask for one.

Looking on the bright side, if the agent loves your work they will contact you anyway. If not, what's the point of sending an SEA so they can send your work back with a form letter?

I know that sometimes there are 'constructive critiques' but how many people have had work finally rejected with a 'constructive critique'? So far I have just had form letters (but still living in hope!).

Two months to the end of book 3, still not got the first two published, but will never give up!

Whether or not you decide to send an SAE for the return of the manuscript, you should at least send a small SAE for their reply - even if it turns out to be a form rejection.

Hello,

I usually ask that they dispose of the sample chapters if it's not suitable for their list but include a small sae envelope for them to reply with their decision. Keeps the costs and the hassle to a minimum.

Take care,

Sara

Erm, not sure why I included a superfluous 'envelope' in there, just having a dense day. Apologies.
