I've just been on the hunt for new online and paper short story mags, and thought I'd flag up three sites worth knowing about if other people are also on the hunt.
Spicy Green Iguana is a well organised site to find mags, and they have a 'dead list', there are hundreds of mags listed.
Also, Submitting to the Black Hole, although I find navigating on this a bit tricky, has lists of dead mags and, more interestingly, a section on how quickly mags responded.
The other place is The Market List. It doesn't list dead mags like Spicy does, but if you click on 'complete guidelines', and it comes up with a blank, it's probably dead.
Sometimes, though, the dead mags do resurrect themselves.
today I found three new mags from Spicy which look promising.
Hope this is helpful. If anyone knows any other useful short story mag resources, I'd be interested to know about them.
Becca.
