    Don't worry, Mike; it's the thought that counts! Sorry to hear about your setbacks though, and hope all goes well for your Clarefest (confess too to never having heard of him until you mentioned the evening on the site - WW is so educational!)

    I am pleased to say though that at least one of my friend will be braving the frontier with me and heading south of the border. Thank you, Anne!!!

    Well that was fun! Two friends came to cheer (and greater love hath no friend than to go south of the river - so muchos gracias to you both!) and the room seemed full.

    I was awarded a red, heart-shaped Betty Boop body buffer - what more could a girl want!

    Also, when I got home, I Googled my fellow performer, Jared Louche, and discovered that he used to work on Wall Street. From investment banker to performance poet is clearly the way to go!

    Well Done Adele. I was thinking of you and sending lots of happy beams your way. My Edinburgh play is previewing over the next few weeks. BAC next week I think and Jackson's Lane the week after. I'll be at the one in North London if you can make it. Wear your Betty Boop and I'll recognise you, failing that I'll look out for a Selma Blair double.

    Lots of love

    Hi Julie, thanks for beaming those positive vibes - I certainly felt them! I would love to see your play - please send me more details of where and when it's on.

    Will do Adele, it's the one I've co written with and for Jenny Eclair and she knows all the details, I'll track her down later today.

    Thanks Sharon! I forgot to do conscious deep breathing However, I did have a white wine spritzer first (enough alcohol to relax me, but not so much that I'd fall off the stage), and also the knowledge of what a big deal it was for one of my friends to go to Battersea (as we travelled there in our taxi, she said, "It has all the bad bits of London - the traffic, the polution, too many people etc - but none of the glamour" - it's hard to disagree with that) was enough for me to feel that I must not let her down.

    I'm now feeling strangely adrift as that is over, I've finished the draft of my novel (and I've found out, by accident, that the agent who asked for the opening chapters in the middle of May has gone on hols until the end of the month) and Wimbledon is but a memory. However, school on Monday to learn Chinese will provide a new focus.

    Ah, the morning after the night before. Nice one Adele, I knew you'd be okay. All that Sound of Music, carefully watching the Von Trapps...you were born for the stage.

    Well done, I'm really glad it went well (not that I had any doubt!)

    Luv n' Dolmio

    Vielen Dank Dav.

    Luv 'n' Wiener Schnitzel,

    Adele

    PS I saw Shrek II last night and thought of you! Fun movie with a fab soundtrack (Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots singing La Vida Loca gets my vote!)

    <Added>

    Btw Farenheit 9/11 was sold out on the biggest screen of my local cinema - hope to see that next week!
