Adele,
Will see if I can get along, partly as I'm thinking of braving the Poetry Cafe some time soon!!
Best,
Mike

Great! Be sure to come and introduce yourself if you do come. So far excuses from friends not to come include: father in hospital (best excuse); brother's leaving London party (not bad); family dinner (also not bad); life coaching workshop (dubious); Spanish class (worthy); being 'tied up' (kinky). But I think Jubbly may have hit the nail on the head - it's a going South of the River phobia! (or everyone hates me )
-
It is a very audience-unfriendly venue in respect of access, but I've been to several shaows there and, if you make the effort to get along, it's a very good venue.
Will do me damndest, though I'm also in London the day before for a reading at John Calder's bookshop in The Cut>
Best,
Mike

Hey come on Adele, nobody hates you. I for one would love to see you strutting your thing in a sparkly dress
Those soft, dulcit words soothing my heart with poetic caress...
It's just that I have to take my chickens to the airport on Friday...

Mike, when I lived in that neck of the woods, I drove everywhere. Now (North of the River & South of the Park) I walk a lot and take the occasional bus or taxi (much better for my health and the environment).
Dav, it's important to be nice to chickens. They taste better then when you roast them
Thanks for the thoughts, though.
Must concentrate on my novel now (roast chicken fantasies are so distracting!!!)
Adele.

Adele - if I'm there you'll know. I'll be the one wearing the roast chicken on my jacket.

P.S. Is Paxo the right name? It sounds odd now...

Hi Adele,
That’s great, how exciting!!!
I’m in the West End on Friday night for a friend’s birthday cocktails, but lets be honest being a North Londoner travelling South gives me the shivers, so I’ll also be there in spirit and we'll have a Mai Tai on your behalf.
Have fun,
Dawn,

Thanks Dawn! Btw, I love Mai Tais!

Break a leg Adele. I would be there if I could but the stagecoach doesn't come as far as Shropshire anymore.
Don't be afraid of performing south of the river! I once performed in the bar of Greenwich Theatre and had a great time.
My advice is, "drink lots". I did and if I was bad, I don't remember.
Just enjoy yourself.
Bill
-
Thanks for the good wishes and the advice, Bill! I'm certain that a few drinks will be downed, whether before, during, or afterwards! I have a feeling though that I'm going to have to resort to blackmail to get any of my friends along ("South of the river; are you mad?") - now where did I put those photos
Adele.

Wickid Adele! You Go Girl! Give them a beam ;-) Nikki
NB hat off for listing your debut on here! Sure to be FUN in the way a rollercoaster ride is, probably ;-)
-
Thanks, Nikki! In for a penny, in for a pound: that's me!
-
Sadly, too far for me to come right now (although I will be back in UK week of August 8th, if anyone else is stuttering their stuff) Best of luck Adele. You're very brave.
Best

Thanks, Sion. After my years of standing up at the mike in front of a trading floor full of neanderthals, I guess nothing should scare me now.

Bugger! Damn! Blast!
Adele,
Life may have hobbled me as far as your reading goes - I've lost 2 readers within 24 hours (one to gall-stones, one to parental death) who were part of a John Clare evening I've arranged for next Tues, and, as they constituted a third of the 'cast', that leaves me in a bit of a pickle. Will still try to come, but if you have a 'rolly' phobia it's maybe as well if I can't make it! Break a leg and knock 'em dead!
Best,
Mike
