  • Into crime?

At our local writers’ group last night we had Lynne Patrick as the guest speaker. Lynne is perhaps best know for being the founder of Crème de la Crime, a small independent publishing company. They do what they say on the tin – seek out the cream of new crime writers – and they don’t do anything else. They will consider authors who are established in another genre and want to get into crime, but they mainly exist to find new unpublished crime writers. They publish 6 new titles a year and they’re still looking for next year’s sixth author. So, if you’ve got a crime novel of around 80,000 words – either finished or close to – this might be worth a pop.

    Into crime?

I was going to say yes, and then it dawned. Writer's site.

But thanks, Dee, looks interesting. I'm sure it'll the right can.

I'm sure it'll hit the right can.

And I don't mean the bin.

Thanks for that Dee, I've book marked the site (although I'm not sure mine would suit them).

I assume it's not to some people's taste but I quite like the idea of the optional £20 charge for a bit of feedback from their reader. Presumable it would just be a couple of lines, but it's got to be better than a standard rejection letter.

    True, Naomi.

She didn’t go into detail about that, but it’s not a lot of money, and refreshingly honest in the way they justify the cost on the website.

I am slightly worried by their stringent no-smoking policy in case that also applies to mss printed off in a smokey atmosphere
