p 52 Myslexia - Paperbooks, independent press set up by an agent who left Curtis Brown, interested in comedy, romance, thrillers (not kids or short stories), submit by post or online - sounds interesting.
Thanks Casey. Looks interesting.
PS Have just sent my synopsis and first three chapters to Hilary Johnson for a critique which is more stressy than submitting to an agent
It is - I've got that (read an excellent review of it by dove grey reader), and Cry of the Justice Bird, which I know nothing about but it says on the front the writer is a winner of theBridport Prize.
Great! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It’s the sort of story that lingers.
Jess, do you think something is emerging here? Really good quality fiction coming from small independent publishers? Are the biggies closing their minds to manuscripts with hint of risk? Looking in from the outside, I assume that because this novel comes from a small independent publisher it’s done the rounds and been rejected by the big boys. Just what is it they want? And are small indies the way forward for authors willing to take a punt on readers willing to try something new?
