I've written around 25,000 words of a debut chick-lit style novel (with a youthful fresh twist etc), and sent the letter/synopsis/three chapters off to the first round of agents. I got rejected by all six, but Conville and Walsh said that they would want to see future writing if I didn't find representation for this project.
I then sent a query email with the contents of the cover letter to an agent at PFD, (since the vast postage costs weren't appealing second time around for a poor impoverished uni student such as myself), and got a really positive reply saying he would love to see the sample, send it off asap, which I have done.
The thing is... (sorry it took so long to get to it!) I haven't yet mentioned its an unfinished work. Was that a mistake? If he asks to see more, obviously I'll sent the rest of what I have completed, but since my degree is so demanding I realistically can't finish more until summer break. Will this e held against me? What is the attitude from agents towards unfinished work?
Thanks
Abby
