Hi guys - Does anyone from the UK have a writer's/illustrator's blog? Does anyone have a blog that gets read? If you do, and you're willing to, could you link it here?

I'll add to this with some form of explanation; I'm an online marketing assistant for A & C Black publishing house, and looking into blogs. I need some examples of unpublished/published writers' blogs discussing writing in general.

Hmm, I realise you are probably just look for examples to create your own blogs at A&C Black, is that right?

If that's the case, might be an idea to ask people what they like to read blogwise?

Okay. Let's see what I can say without getting my desk cleared.

I'm a very low-down marketing assistant. Blogs, and internet stuff is new to my company. I'm researching all kinds of blogs; not just to find out what readers read, but also to look at general blogs.

    I'd say more, but I fear death-by-confidentiality-agreement.

All still a mystery, Ali, but thanks for the extra info!

    Mine is at:

    http://annebrooke.blogspot.com

    or on

    http://www.myspace.com/annebrooke - where I get a lot more traffic, I think.

I was told of a new authors section on Bebo so I started my own blog yesterday (which is specifically for my latest work) From what I hear Bebo are investing in promoting this to both writers and readers though google ads etc.

I set up a book page on myspace ( http://www.myspace.com/thethreewrongs ) but I am not sure how successful this has been to be honest.

Danuta Kean, Dovegreyreader, Fictionbitch are all good book blogs.

You know, Vulpes Libris has a great set of links as well as being a great blog. Have a look at that and it'll give you a lot of good blogs to look at. Plus she'll have some good WW blogs on that too.

    Plus mine of course (ahem...)

Not seriously - I would put the link only i'm a bit rubbish at that. If you go to my blog (mockduck - link above) and find vulpeslibris on the right - the blog itself and her links should be of interest.

Just googled your details and I see you have put up a bit more of an explanation on other writers and illustrators forums, Ali. (I'm the nosey elf who sits in the corner
Maybe you would like to share a bit more of the details with us.

Just been reading some of your blogs, they're great! Particularly loving the writer girl, it put an early smile on my face (I don't do mornings!)

All right, all right! I haven't actually posted much on other forums about the blog request, mainly because there's some other things in the pipeline that I'm not entirely certain are related. I hear a lot in this department, as I sit between the head of this section's office, and the desk of my supervisor. As you can imagine, a lot I am privy to I cannot mention.

WAYB is going online. Seriously online; this year there's a larger version of the current site being set up with a lot more content (no more details on that yet; this is still being discussed) but I know for certain, it's going up in September. Next year, we're expanding. A lot. And if some of you check the press/the Bookseller etc, you will know the name of the owner of the company, and some of his intentions.

    A lot of my questions are fairly random; they're connected with market research, or using specific examples to explain a concept to my supervisor, or maybe an experiment, or even something connected with a larger project. There are a few things I can promise;

    1) The information I collect is used solely inside A & C Black. Most of the links to things are put on market research documents.

    2) If I'm using your ideas or suggestions (when I ask questions about website wants, etc) and they are emailed to me, I will always email back and indicate that I am including them - and I cite the name you give me in the documents.

    3) A lot of the time, I *can't* explain further. Let's put it this way; we're owned by Bloomsbury. Bloomsbury have a lot of popular books at the moment. There is quite hefty confidentiality surrounding Bloomsbury. On employment here, we sign an agreement. This covers *everything* and I'm not entirely sure what constitutes 'too much' so I err on the side of caution.

And yes; I am on a hundred other forums (to exaggerate) and have very little idea as to what I've posted on each one, as I spend time on very few, and ask that people email me personally rather than post.

    Does that help you all?
