I don't know if this is the right forum for a "notification type" posting, but I couldn't find that one called "Help us Celebrate ..." for the life of me! Apologies if I'm wrong (again) or just plain blind ...
Anyway, I thought you might like to know that my first novel, "The Hit List", a comedy of crime and country living, is now available from www.authorsonline.co.uk and www.amazon.co.uk - it's got a lovely bright green cover and is just right for those long summers by your pool - if only I had one! And sorry in advance for the rude bits ...

Hey, Anne, congrats- if you'd like us to publicise it a bit more, e me with a paragraph that sounds suitably spicy/enticing.

Congratulations Anne! You must be chuffed to pieces! :D Hope it's a best seller!

i've seen the product page for your book at amazon.co.uk but how are you going to get people to purchase it? at least form the site anyway. the page is blank, there is no picture and no description/synopsis of the book. i think you should write a review yourself or something because it's not being advertised well and even if people do stumble across the page they will have absolutly no idea what they are looking at.

Dear Fingersox (great name!) - I quite agree. As a self-publisher, I had to wait until the novel was actually on Amazon before I emailed them the details that should go with it. From another source (also a self-publisher of a non-fiction book) I gather that the author info email link doesn't always work, so over the weekend I sent them the blurb and the review to see if that comes up on screen soon - they say it takes 5 working days so I intend to check again next week and then chase it via the email contact they give when you do this.
If it works, I shall ask about uploading the front cover too.
Marketing, of course, is the huge issue for all of us! The full details can be found on www.authorsonline.co.uk, together with the first chapter for sampling, and I have also posted some information on my own website, www.annebrooke.com
Most of my sales and marketing efforts will be done by me - as I did for my poetry book which came out in January this year - the church (I did it as a charity book) has now made £600 on it and I only have 30 copies left so am well chuffed! So my plans for "The Hit List" include book signings in my local bookshops, local paper press releases and local radio (if I can get it!), as well as an email/post campaign to all my writing/friends/work links - it's amazing how helpful people can be if you start. Just today, my sister-in-law to be has kindly said she'll put it forward to be read by her (very lively!) book group to boost sales. I'm also having flyers and posters and car stickers done by my friendly local printer (whom I know via work), and will also take copies down to the Winchester Writers' Conference along with "Tidal" (the poetry one) in June to sell them there - the lady in charge there has kindly agreed this.
Really, book sales/marketing is just a question of being creative, thinking laterally and enjoying the buzz!!
Thanks, everyone for your warm wishes - they're very much appreciated, by the way!
