Becca, what is the trouble with the PODs?
Ani

Ani, back to your question about the writer's CV. I think the reader likes to get a picture of who you are. It's like when you look on someone's profile here - if they don't give anything away about themselves, you're not sure how to pitch your comments. They always say keep it brief and to the point - about writing rather than other qualifications, unless they're relevant. Does that answer that question?

It does help. I understand that it wouldn't be strictly writing credits, but relevant background in general. So even though I have not got anything published, I could still put together a writing CV. (?)

I did a CV, got around to those qualifications section, felt disheartened and got all defensive about it. Probably not the way to go, unfortunately, but you could put things like memberships to writing groups (such as Write Words) and the like? MAybe?
-
Yes, WriteWords and my writing classes, too!
I was a staff writer on a daily broadsheet about ten years ago, but it was my university's daily broadsheet. Still, they printed 25,000 copies a day. I guess that would count, too.

Yes, Ani, plus you could list your best works with a tagline each time.
Elspeth
ps JA - i'd change your CV and leave it blank because if you search yourself, it adds that 'none really' line!
-
e.g. I saw that and thought it was funny so I left it. Maybe I am not cut out for marketing...oh well, all for the cheap laugh, even when it's only me laughing
-
No JA, I agree it's funny for us. I cut a couple of lines from my bio, though after a friend said if she didn't know me, she'd think i was a bit of a loser...
S'up to you

Elspeth - Good idea (re best works + tagline).

Ani,
PODs will publish anything for a start, so you wouldn't get the attention of an editor, you'd probably have no say in how the finished product was presented, and you might in some cases have to shell out money. But other people may have different thoughts and opinions about them.
Becca.
