Hello,
I am new here to WriteWords.
I am writing stuff on Triond, and get paid there for my writing. They publish almost everything I submit.
I wanted to know if there's anyone here that also used Triond, or maybe Helium, and can compare the pros and cons of Write Words in contrast to these services.
Thanks,
Dan

Could you explain more about Triond? Sounds interesting.
WW as far as I'm aware doesn't pay any contributors except small fees to the site experts - we're on here because we enjoy talking about the various aspects of writing and publishing. There is however an excellent jobs directory on here.

I would be interested to know how much you get paid on Triond, Dan.
And what is your handle/user name - I'd be interested to see what the sort of thing the site likes to publish

Greenwrite, welcome to WW. Generally speaking, people post work on WW to get feedback and support from other members, so that they can work on and improve their writing. There is the option of making it visible to the Internet at large, though.
Do have explore, and if you've got any queries, ask the Site Hosts Dee and Nik, or just yell for help in the Newcomers forum!
That's an interesting site, and I can see the appeal of getting your work out there, and getting revenue from the ads that appear next to your work (at least, a quick glance suggestst that's how it works), but I'm not sure I'd be happy about this, from the Terms and Conditions:
5. ...you hereby irrevocable and unconditionally grant Triond, and any of its affiliates (hereinafter also referred to as "Triond"), a irrevocable, perpetual, unlimited free of charge and exclusive right to publish the Original Content on the Site and/or on other Internet Sites ...as well as allow users of the Site to view and further use the Original Content, free of charge, for any such purpose permitted by Triond provided such use shall not be for profit generating purposes... Triond shall be entitled to edit, delete, cutback, rephrase, reproduce, copy, translate, merge, add, use and make use of the Materials, in whole or in part, in any way or manner and at any time, as Triond shall deem appropriate in its sole discretion.

Hello again,
You asked about Triond - well it is a nice service that lets you easily upload stuff you write, and then they publish it where they find fits best. The advantage is that you get paid for views that your articles generate (and of course they let you keep copyrights on your materials).
I have only published 4 articles there. I wrote technical stuff, because their guidelines at the time claimed that those were interesting topics that would get more traffic, and I was more interested in seeing the pay than actually putting the stuff up on the Internet. (You can see I am interested in tech stuff )
Anyway, I made about $6 for about 1000 views. I didn't try to promote my stuff myself, and that could be the reason for the low number of overall views. Well, of course, $6 is not a whole lot of money, but it beats the $0 I made elsewhere.
I am also thinking about trying out Helium.com, I see their ads everywhere, so I thought somebody here must have tried it out and can comment.

Hello Emma,
Yes, their user agreement seems harsh, but actually I inquired their support about copyrights, and was assured that I retain copyrights for everything. I can also request to delete items I published with them, and regarding editing - they didn't seem to change anything I submitted.
Maybe the downside here is that there is no community of writers to comment on your writing. This seems where Write Words come in handy .

Dan, that's interesting. Though you may technically keep copyright, as I see it, does it mean you couldn't - say - post something here for feedback that you had posted there? Or is it only exclusive to them till you take it down from their site? Words like 'irrevocable' make me nervous!
And yes, the community here is a huge part of its value to members, I think. Though the Jobs & Opps are pretty comprehensive...

Dan, hello and welcome to WW.
It’s good that you’re happy with Triond. I have to say, though, that the section of their terms that Emma highlighted would send me screaming for the hills. Words like irrevocable, perpetual, unlimited, free of charge, exclusive are saying that, while technically you retain copyright, you will never be able to use that piece of work again, nor expect any further payment for its use. Personally, I wouldn’t touch that kind of deal with a bargepole.
However, it’s your choice. Have a look round WW. Browse the forums and get involved. This is a mutually supportive community of writers at all levels, so you're bound to find something of interest.
