Out of interest, how many submissions did you get from WriteWords members?

    Damm
I've only just found this offer.
Any point in asking for an extension - I can get to the post office tomorrow?

    I wouldn't bother Sue,

I'm wondering if my own got there after watching the Dispatches programme about the Post Office. Though it might get there by next April so you might be okay!

One consolation is that the rejection letter may be delayed or alternatively we can pretend that our MS's never got there rather than that they were binned.

Good grief - the guilt trip is bad enough when I have to send out a rejection letter; it's getting worse! (But no, I'm not sure I trust the post office anymore either).

Sue, if it's not sci-fi, crime or children's then what the heck. Send it in if you like (but don't tell anyone I said that)

And Geoff, fear not, your ms reached me safe and sound I'm just a slow-coach at getting back to people.

Colin, the grand total was the astounding number of.....15. At least, those that were declared as WW. Funnily enough, submissions were down this month - only 62, compared with 84 for March. But believe me, 62 is quite enough to be getting on with....

I could never do your job. I think I can write faster than I can read. I really envy people who can read a book in a few hours. Whenever I read stuff I find my mind continually wandering off on its own. The next thing I know I've read three or four pages and haven't taken a thing in. If that doesn't happen then I feel like I'm being drained and fall asleep - even if I like the story.

For some reason this doesn't happen with kids books, ie Phillip Pullman, Eoin Colfer(how the hell do you pronounce that?) - that must say something, I just don't know what.

Hi Katie, 15 ww members really isn't excessive, is it?

I was wondering, as you mentioned the number of submissions, if there are some notoriously busy months? eg Do you get a flood of submissions in September (after the hols) or January (new year's resolutions)?
    Thanks

January was a popular month, but recently we've been on an even keel with about 80 or so submissions a month. After a holiday there are always more in the post; the same goes for Tuesdays when people post things after the weekend.

But no, considering how many people viewed this post, not many wrote in, but then I was asking for quite specific material. The majority of submissions are either thrillers or sci-fi, which I ruled out, and the next biggest category is lad/chick lit of one variety or another (which I wasn't really looking for either) so it's not that surprising I suppose.

But thanks again to those of you who did write in.

I received my submission back today with just a standard rejection letter and I have to say I'm very disappointed. Not because I was rejected, but because the reason I sent my work to you was because you claimed you would give feedback as stated here:

'What I can guarantee though, is feedback on your writing. This will be constructive but also honest, and if you'd rather I didn't comment, please say so in your introductory letter. (And of course, we do not charge any kind of reading fee).'

I did not receive any feedback. I was a trial member of WriteWords when I sent you my work in April and I did state this, as requested by you in this thread. I just feel a bit cheated.

On a different note, I'm going to become a full member of WriteWords now, so hopefully I'll get some feedback on my work by others.

I'm really sorry about that Winter Girl, although without your name or the title of the work I can't look at my records for an explanation.
It could be that your WriteWords connection didn't register. I don't give feedback to every submission as I simply don't have the time, but I have been trying to prioritise WW members.
I've also been trying to make my way through the back log which means I can't give them all as much attention as I'd like.
If you give me more info I can take a look at my notes.
