No names no pack drill, but a good publisher insists that they must have sole access to work submitted for an anthology, until they accept or reject.
Fair enough.
Except they don't bother to reject, just announce the launch of the new anthology, and you find out that way. So... they must have known weeks ago that they werent going to use some work that could be resent elsehwere.
Is that fair, professional? What does it cost to send a quick email?
I know the writing world isn't one fuelled by altrusism, but if writers stick to the rules laid down by publishers, shouldn't the publishers also honour them?
