Great idea. Trouble is - I can't bear to part with any of mine...

sometimes loan them to the family which usually means i dont get them back but like Dee I hate parting with books even if i haven't read them for years.

We have a book exchange at work. It's just a large plastic box. You put a book in and take one out. Works a treat.
And we have a scheme at our local writers' group. We take along any unwanted books and sell them for £1 each, all proceeds going to group funds. It means we can pay for quality speakers, decent comp prizes and a damned good xmas party... but I still come home every month with more books than I take!

What a fantastic idea. I might try it, if I can bear to let any of them go... I just can't let go of them. I thought I'd crack the habit by getting library books instead. Only trouble is I read the library book, take it back and then go and buy the book anyway because I liked it so much! Did that with Skellig and I've now lent it to someone who hasn't given it back so I'll have to get another copy. David Almond's royalties will be sky high just from me at this rate!

Much as I would love to "domate" my books to charity, I think they just look too good populating my shelves...

I've heard of it and I think it's fantastic in theory, .. like shared bikes in Amsterdam.
