I'm not sure where to put this, so I hope this is okay: I just wonder if anyone out there knows where/how I might be able to get hold of book display cases - the sort you see in bookshops or book festivals showcasing an author? We'd like one or two for some of our Goldenford displays, and aren't sure where you get them from, other than making them ourselves!

We've tried a couple of stationery catalogues, but no luck. Please can anyone help? Thank you!

    Holly,

There is a magazine called 'Bookseller' which often has for sale fittings and shelving from bookshops that have closed down, give them a try.

Not sure where you'd get the magazine though.

Aha! Jennifer says she looked in the Bookseller and couldn't find anything, but I shall ask her again - many thanks! It's probably her eyesight ...

Bit of a long shot, but viking-direct.co.uk might be worth a look. They seem to sell everything else (probably including the kitchen sink) and I can vouch for their fantastic service. When I last used them I ordered a flipchart Easel at about 10am. It was delivered before 4pm. Hoe good is that????

Hope you find what you need.

    Nik.

Hi, You could try and get hold of catalogues for library suppliers, they usually contain a range of display/promo material. The three I know of are Don Gresswells, LFC Library Supplies and Librex...sorry I don't know the contact details and can only find Librex on the net - but their site www.librex.co.uk seems to be down this evening. Maybe your local public library could help, see if they have the catalogues or contact addresses? Or ask where they get their display stuff from?
    Good luck!

Try Yellow Pages or Google for second-hand office furniture dealers? It's often in good nick, just thrown out when the office changes hands.

Or do the same for display furniture for trade shows? You want that really, more than semi-permanent shop fittings, I'd have thought, and I'm sure there are specialist firms. Or yellow pages to find a local carpenter, and see what they'll knock up to your specification.

What am I saying, Gresswells online is: www.gresswell.com and LFC seems to be: lfcdespatchline.co.uk
I've had a quick look and they seem to be all quite substantial so may be too expensive for you, but its worth a look
