Hiya All,
I've ben enlisted to write somethng for my brother's wedding. Any ideas as to form, 'angle'....even content? Obviously It's expected this will be a poem, but a prose poem would not be out of place and given that so many are into Flash right now, I think any flash advocates may be able to offer something....
Things to work on: wedding colours are lilac and silver...bride and groom are mature, taking place in the North of England....
Any ideas, suggestions as to form, are worthy. I'll think about anything and absorb all suggestions - just hope my writer's block removes itself by the time I need to write anything proper.

Hell, tc, I've been thinking about this all morning and have come up with zilch!

Thanks for trying, Dee..nothing does leap out, even at me and I know them pretty well!
Right now I'm thinking of using nature as a metaphor, working in the lilac and silver theme..I'll check to see if there's folklore/mythology associated with them (surely sliver, but lilac?)
Hmmm. Good job I've got ages!

okay, tc, let's figure this out.
first let's try and answer these questions:
for the soon-to-be-wed couple what was(is) their-
most embarassing moments?
most selfless act(s)?
opposing passions?
visual imagery of what their children will look like(if they plan to have them)?
hidden talents?
These are starters, something a group will find personal and entertaining, I'll try to think of more.
Remember it's all about them--but in your own eyes!

Thanks Ads...some good ideas (though as its supposed to be read out during the ceremony in the chapel I think I'd better stay clear of their most embarassing moments...!!)
I'll think on re the other topics, 'selfless acts' is good, I'm sure I can get them in somewhere.
I'm wondering on form. The obvious is a sonnet, but who wants to be obvious? Anyone good at what's appropriate where? Joanie, Nell I need your expertise......

Thanks for taking the time over that, Gina! Looks to be some great links there which I'll definitely check out.
I'll certainly post the finished article, but the wedding is quite a while away so it may be some time before I get it done. I'm not going to rush it, but your links will add to my pile of raw material to be shaped and played with.
Thanks again!

It's ok, only took five minutes, I just googled the words lilac symbolism, silver symbolism and saw what came up. Hope it helps.
Gina.
