Sorry to ask a series of stupid questions... apologies.

My protagonist has been put into the back of a transit van. Is there a barrier on most transit vans between the back and the drivers' area, so that you can't talk between? Is it open or with a metal wall, IOW?

My husband thought closed, but I wasn't sure he was right. It kind of matters for my plot.

Just wondered if anyone knew off the top of their head?

which suggests it is open with nothing at all between the seats and the storage area, but transits are oft customised, it would seem, so whether this is how a basic transit would look I couldn't say.

But a refrigerated version is going to have a solid between the cab and starage area, and if you don't want sharp objects hitting you in the back of the neck then you'll probably get a version with a solid metal wall. But, yes, you can have it open if you need it to be, for the story.

Not a stupid question at all.

From my experience (based on a history of doing various rubbish jobs) they can be either closed or completely open. Whichever way you need for your story, it's not going to jar or seem out of the ordinary.

I asked Colin and he said it depends - on his one there is a wire barrier but on the other van there is a solid one.

It's great to see that Colin's new job doing 'missions', can also be useful in other ways!

Sharley, please tell Colin I am really grateful for the info... I must say, I've also done a variety of jobs, and it is useful for having a feel for different things, rather than just doing one job all one's life. Gives us wider knowledge. A bit like we were saying that divorce and related experiences were useful for writing, even though they may not have had much merit in other ways.

I can now continue my scene, feeling fully in the know about transit vans...
