  • I`m nearly 40! My life`s a mess!

Actually, I'm only 39 next month and things are fine.

However, fast approaching middle age has made me look back at some of my previous writing that is more personal and based on real life experiences - though not completely autobiographical.

In the past I have had a problem with the story getting in the way of my writing and vice versa, so I'm thinking about going back to basics and weaving a fiction story around my reality.

Problem is, has this all be done to death before by Nick Hornby, Andrew Collins etc.

I know the simple answer to that is 'YES! Jesus Christ no more 30 something confessionals!' But is there some potential left?

I have posted a scrap of writing I did in a workshop a while ago (see link), and I am thinking about developing this.

Any thoughts on the writing, the subject matter or 'oh my god please don't do that!' advice would be appreciated.
