  • WEBSITE CONTACT FORMS

Hi all. A few questions. Some techy - some opiniony...

I decided it was time to change my website and I wondered how people felt about contact forms on writer's sites because I've noticed that a lot of people have them.

First of all, for those who browse sites. What do you prefer? An email link that you click, which opens up an Outlook Express window, or a form where you have to remember your email address? I always worry that forms won't send my mail right, or that I don't have a copy. Anyone else the same?

I have heard that forms came about to stop people having their email address picked up by web spiders (God, that is soooooo Star Trekky), but is that still the case, or is it something you should really be concerned about, especially if it isn't your primary email?

I had a form on my last site, but I've found that a few mails haven't got through. The usual cause is that people don't put a real email address in, so the server kicks it out. I know there are clever ways to check the address before sending the form (busy trying to get my head around that) but if forms are off putting, then I might go back to the boring method of a simple email link.

    Any ideas?

decided to scrap the form - otherwise I'm going to spend the next three days working on the damn thing rather than working on writing.

I have got a nice little animation on the About Page though! That was my way of avoiding work this morning
