  • Have you ever seen one of your ideas pblised by someone else?

Everytime I go to Sainsburys I look at the top novels they have. I''ve bought a few good crime and thrillers from there as they only stock popular books (they're very well priced as well).

Today, I saw that the amazing Jeffrey Deaver has released a book that is the same as an idea I had a couple of weeks ago. I have ideas all the time - every day - most of which don't make it to paper (screen). Obviously, I've not had my idea copied (and it was just an idea); I'm not accusing one of the greatest crime / thriller writers of the modern day from copying from an unpubished nobody.

However, I walked away from the supermarket feeling pretty good for myself. I thought, at least some of my ideas may be publishable in principal.

I was just interested, has it ever happened to you?

I spent months on a novel, sent it off, had it rejected and a short while later Emmerdale ran a storyline so close it gave me shivers! I got the same feeling though, rather than thinking they'd nicked it, I just thought, "cool - at least I'm coming up with good ideas" - or ideas on par with Emmerdale!

I sometimes wonder if there’s a collective unconscious at work to produce these synchronicities.

I've not seen a novel or programme reflect an idea of mine, but not so long ago I saw an episode of Most Haunted that was so close to the storyline of TWH it f-f-freaked me out no end.

I bet you're getting keyed up for the Most Haunted Hallowe'en special!!! We're supposed to be at a party that night. I think my other half will be sneaking back early.
