You know that scene in a film when a character survives a grenade explosion or suffers traumatic ear damage. Kind of like the scene at the beginning of Saving Private Ryan or the end of Copland, is there a term for that? What's it called?

temporary deafness?
burst/perforated ear drums?
Trauma?

Post traumatic deafness.

Acoustic trauma.

Are you looking for some kind of dramatic definition of a scene of that kind, or a medical term for burst eardrums etc ?

Duh. I only thought about the eardrum diagnosis!

Yeah I suppose I kind of had in mind shell shocked or some variation on it. Oh well I'll have to have a rethink.
