I'm researching how the Church of England operates internally, especially its hierarchy and its origins, also the responsibilties of various clergy and church officers, etc etc. Are there books anyone could point me towards that might help me with this?

The best place to start is the Church of England website that contains all of this information if you look hard enough. www.cofe.anglican.org. If you're looking for something more heavyweight and legal, try Ecclesiastical Law (2nd edition) by Mark Hill.

Husband has frowned and looked puzzled, but may yet come up with something! It's a huge topic!! He did say though that your local church minister should be happy to provide info, if asked nicely - but suggest after Christmas would be better than now!!
