If you send a story to an online site, and they display it, is this classed as being published? Does it mean that you then cannot send it to a normal hard copy magazine and offer first british serial rights? Or can you still send it off to normal magazines?

Does it make a difference if you haven't been paid for the online one? Or does the fact that it is on display somewhere - paid or nor, mean that it has been published?

Kat, if it's published on an ezine, it's classed as published. It makes no difference whether you've been paid or not. If you think it suitable for a paying hardcopy mag you can still submit the story, as long as you mention where it's appeared. If they like it enough they might still take it.
