I've just uploaded the first chapter - 'Bunking Off' - of a recently completed novel entitled 'Throwing it All Away'.

It's essentially lad lit with a strong crime/legal element. The premise is as follows: Young lawyer Pete loses his girlfriend and job, and then discovers that his ex-boss is involved in a complicated property scam. The novel follows his rather erratic progress in trying to get his life back on course while trying to get to the bottom of the scam. Unfortunately, things are never quite what they seem, and he always appears to be one step behind.

All critique gratefully received. My main concern is to know whether this chapter hooks you into the story effectively.
