  • Corozal - Urgent plea
by Anj at 09:32 on 06 May 2006
I've promised the first three chapters of Corozal to an agent within the week, so am furiously editing and polishing. I've just posted the third chapter (previous two in my archive) and would be phenomenally grateful for any comment/crit anyone can offer.

    Many, many thanks in anticipation.

Is the rest of the novel polished too? What happens if the agent asks for the lot?

    Colin,

She's aware that I'm rewriting the first half of the novel - so if she asks for more it's in the knowledge that it will be a few weeks, maybe a couple of months before I can provide it. But frankly, the way agents are, it could well be that the entire manuscript is ready before she asks.

I wouldn't be too sure. I keep track of every submission I make, and although a few agents take up to five weeks, the majority of responses come in the first week - not just standard rejections either, I've had requests for the full script in that first week too, which threw me into a whirl of panic.

Best of luck with it though.

ps are you still working with Dek on something?

    Colin,

Yes, I've had rejections and requests very quickly too, although rarely very quickly with requests; I've also had both well beyond five weeks (my personal record is just over a year), hence the 'could well be ready'. But as I say, she is aware that I'm re-writing so knows the manuscript would not be immediately available; in the lucky event she wants to see more, I'll just have to forget about sleeping.

    Thanks for the luck.
