  • New writer, looking for feedback and support.
    by Andi-icecream at 22:21 on 15 February 2006
    Hello everyone,

Ive been lurking for a little while now, and decided to join as you all seem like a friendly bunch!

I started writing my first novel in October 05, and have only managed 20k words so far (I work full time and have a 11 month old baby). I love writing and escaping into my own little world! (insert psychological assessment here) What i have found surprising is that the story seems to write itself - once I get going I feel like I'm being led by the book, if you see what I mean. Unfortunately, I only get to write very occasionally.

Anyway, I am rambling! I have so little confidence in my writing that I have not even told my other half about the book - I dont want him to rubbish me as I know that will stop me from carrying on. (I think that's why I am off loading here!!) Another kick to my confidence is the fact that every author I read about seems to be far more intelligent than me! (This includes you lot, by the way )

I have uploaded the first couple of chapters and wondered if any of you would be kind enough to give them a read. I just want to know if my style of writing is ok - please be truthful - I appreciate any feedback anyone can offer.

Well, thanks for reading my rambling post. Hope to hear from some of you in due course.

    Andi.

    Welcome Andi,
WW is a wonderful place to get honest and helpful feedback on your writing which will make you a better writer. The people here are so supportive, you will find the community you need to support you as a writer.
Don't apologise for rambling, we all do it from time to time.
I'll take a look at your work ASAP.

    Welcome Andi,

There are some good writers on here. It's a great place to get comments, feedback and support from other writers that are passionate about writing.

Hello, Andi, welcome to WW. It sounds like you know your way around already, but do ask for help if you need it. And for the most consistent feedback and support - specially for a novel - it's worth joining a group. Enjoy!

    Hi Andi
The fact that you have done any writing at all when you have a young baby is an amazing achievement. From one mother to another, I say good for you and a big welcome to WW. Hold your head up high, girl.
    best
    Caroline

I know where you're coming from Andi. I started writing my book a month before my boy was born. I finished it just before his second birthday. It can seem like hell trying to juggle sleepless nights, work, bed and bath with trying to get a few words written and watching the page numbers grow. I guess the best adviceI can give is have loads of patience and keep on going.
Can't find your work to read though. Do upload some of it.

    Hello Andi, welcome to WriteWords.

You've come to a wonderfully supportive place. I'm very impressed with your tenacity. After you've been here a while, your confidence will hopefully increase.

There's good conversation in the "lounge". Often you will come across great bits of information that you can use to enhance your writing and reading experience.

Commenting on the work of others is also rewarding.

Enjoy and best wishes with your writing.
