    Dear All,

I guess each of us will have our own story, regarding how we started writing. For some it will have been a passion established from early childhood, whereas others will have come to it much later on: as a student when killing time between lectures, or as a new mum, when suddenly finding oneself alone at home. When did you discover that you enjoyed playing with words, and stringing together neat sentences? And then there's subject - what aspect of reality (or fantasy) drew you in to such an extent, then you were focussed enough to explore it through writing?

I myself 'discovered' writing in a setting much like the one i'm in right now - sat on my desk, at work. It was whilst knocking-up emails to friends that I realised what fun this writing thing was, but I never thought any more of it. And then I got an idea...

Nearly two years later and I've finished my novel, Entropy, which lays bare Modern Britain and British Muslims, as I see them. And as I embark upon the long journey to (hopefully) publication, I'm also seeking peer feedback: I can no longer be critical of my own work. I'm hoping some of you will be good enough to read my chapters, as I begin posting them. I'm feeling pretty nervous right now...

One final thing - in parts the book is deliberately vulgar, mainly because life can be vulgar. And also some may find what I've written offensive: the British, Americans, Arabs & Muslims - at points I've sought to hurt them all. My target though has always been the faceless collective, rather than individuals therein.

I think it can be more terrifying to lay your work bare to peer feedback than to send it out to publishers. I recently started this process and haven't looked back. People are so respectful of your feelings, and the advice you receive is invaluable. I look forward to reading your work.
