  • Amazing! I`m on amazon... (well, it`s amazing to me)
by rogernmorris at 12:28 on 27 October 2005
For anyone who's interested, my book is now listed on amazon.co.uk. It's not out yet, but it is available for pre-ordering (smiles broadly). Go on, go on, go on - you know you want to!

Actually, I'd be really grateful if people just check out the page to see what they think. The entry is pretty basic at the moment. No cover, for example - it's still under wraps, I believe. The publisher says they may do more later. I fretted over the synopsis they've put up. You only get one shot at it and there's always a better way of doing these things.

I believe the books are being launched to the book trade next week, so the cover will be public domain then.

Let's see if this amazon link thing works.

    Roger Morris Taking Comfort

This should take you straight to the amazon page, hopefully.

Well done Roger! It's something I dream of one day being able to see myself, I can only imagine how you're feeling at the moment.

Well done, Roger, I hope you're enjoying this great moment. I've read the synopsis and I think it sounds good. What must be truly nerve-wrecking is reading the readers' comments on Amazon. I sometimes read them and wonder how the writer feels when they read it.

I will certainly buy 'Taking Comfort' when it comes out partly because it sounds like a book I'd enjoy and partly because I like the idea of being able to ask the author questions about it after I've read it.

And of course, the not inconsiderable fact that you can slate the book in an Amazon review with the knowledge that the author will definitely read it

Thanks Gareth, Geoff and Ashlinn. It somehow feels real now that the amazon page is up.

I know Martin Amis hates the fact that ordinary members of the unwashed public have the opportunity to comment on his books. What qualifications do they have? he asks. They have not been literary editors of The Times or The London Review of Books, or whatever. (For which read, They are not my mates.) It does make me feel sorry for a writer when they have a particularly savage reader's post - or even none at all.

Anyhow, thanks to you all for your interest and Gareth I shall look forward to reading a review from you -- errrr, very nervously.
