I've just joined today and, in a spirit of fun, and to attract attention to myself!, I've posted a book review & uploaded a 'poem'. Anyone wishing to comment or just say 'hi', feel free to WW me.
Love and Mercy,
Mike David

Welcome Mike,
I'm fairly new myself and like this site very much. Hope you do to. I was just reading your review before I checked the forum. That's definitely one I'll read. One of my strongest memories from - oh it's so long ago I can't remember - is of reading SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES. At that point I hadn't read Macbeth so didn't recognise the title but it gripped me before I'd even picked up the book. To be honest, I can't remember most of the story but will never forget the effect it had on me. So... that's another one I'll have to add to my already enormous reading pile.
Dee.

Hello Dee,
Thanks for the welcome. Yes, I think the site is terrific, and will have to force myself not to spend too much time here! I strongly recommend that you re-read Something Wicked; like all great books it yields new riches each time you return to it. The Zen book is marvellously inspiring.
Best,
Mike

Hi!
Two welcomes in such a short space of time; I'm beginning to feel at home here already. I've been so busy exploring the site that I haven't read any one's work yet, but that's next on the agenda.
If you're an American Curmugeon, you may well be familiar with the work of one of my favourite writers, Ambrose Bierce.....?
Best,
Mike

Evening Mike
I saw your posting and had to reply as, having joined today, I'm new, too. I'll keep an eye out for your piece and will try to critique it some time.
Be safe

I'm brand new too, and so dense that I can't figure out how to post a new topic! Clues, anyone?

Go to the different Forums on the right hand side, choose the most appropriate one, and then you'll see a button saying 'New Topic'. This will open you up a new thread.

Becca? Is that you?
(just joking Becca
)

IB, you are so bad!
-
Mike, welcome. I read that you liked Ambrose Bierce. I don't know anything about poetry, but if you like Bierce, try Arthur Porges and Robert Aickman for sheer 'otherness.'
-
Thanks, Becca,
Both are new to me and, yes, I love 'otherness'. We have met once, when you Anna, Richard and I went Salsa dancing one night in 'Snorbans' a fair old while ago. One of my long-term projects is a play about Bierce.
Best,
Mike

Mike, that's a piece of sheer 'otherness' then, me not knowing Anna et al in person!
-
Whooa!
Sorry! Clearly got entirely the wrong person. Could be an iea for a story though...............
best,
Mike

Your story or mine, Mike? It sounded like a fine night, wish I had been there!
-
Well, we could both give it a try; guarantee two totally different tales would appear. That's the beauty of ideas - they're not copyrighted; it's what you make of them.
Best,
Mike
