Hello, as this is a big change from the type of thing I normally write, I wonder if any of you can help with this.
I've been meaning to write an account of my eldest son for years. Matthew has cerebral palsy, he can't speak or stand or walk; he can't use his arms or hands with any assured success, so communication is difficult.
When we found out about Matthew it was pretty daunting. There are lots of materials available to tell you about the condition and help available, but very little to tell you about how families cope, a well balanced view of family life. I'm reluctant to go ahead with this because it's such a daunting task, and I don't know if I'm good enough to do it justice, but I also wonder if it would be possible to write something like this and make it appeal to a wider audience. And so, I'd especially like the opinions of those with no connection to disability for whether or not they would continue reading something like this.
Matthew's Story
Cheers,
Colin M
