  • Introduction to my work..
    by Mr Nelson at 21:36 on 07 February 2005

    this is a synopsis from a book I'm trying to get published..I have sent it off to several agencies...

    Meet Justin Whalley. A strait-laced, not too bad looking man. He wants three things from his also-ran life. A wife. Children. A good job. Not that hard to get? For Justin his journey to attain what seems normal to everyone else, and almost impossible for him, takes a roller-coaster style ride, of emotions, embarrassment and heartache, involving his brothers, his sisters and his close friends from work.

    A time passes Justin goes through a ‘wild stage’ in his personal life and this begins to threaten his good and clean cut image as a salesman at work. Pressures from family tragedies add further weight and pressure to his flagging sales. His manager, friends and family become concerned, and Justin begins to wander whether everything he wants is worth fighting for…

    <Added>

    I have also have a trilogy thriller that I wrote some years back (www.pabd.com) under the name Horace Rose - called Program 2000: The clock is Ticking...

    any comments on either book would be appreciated..(synopsis below)

    “Computing graduate Karl Brian is pitted against the vast resources of a global conspiracy, when he discovers that his co-workers and his long lost father, are agents of the Program 2000 Group, a shadowy organisation responsible, after decades of planning, for the software threat posed by the millennium bug – and this with only weeks before the turn of the century.

    With the leaders of the G8 countries being blackmailed for the solution and Karl being pursued by the Federal Computing Investigators, after being framed for murder, this lone man must stay one step ahead of the lawbreakers and the law, whilst finding a solution that will save untold millions of lives…”

    thanks!

    Welcome to WW, Mr Nelson.

    I’m afraid these aren’t really synopses. They are what’s known as ‘blurb’ – the taster you see on the backs of paperbacks to raise interest in reading the book. A synopsis is a very different animal and everyone hates writing them… I’m saying this with my teeth clenched because I’m trying to write one for my own novel and just the thought of it makes me feel like a rebellious schoolgirl.

    Without actually seeing your writing, we can’t comment and, if the second one is already published, it’s too late to offer any advice on it.

    Can I suggest you upload the first chapter of your unpublished novel and ask for feedback. You’ll get plenty of it – but make sure you select the level of critique you want.
