I went to the above web page from the NASA one and noted the graphic associated with the article about entangled atomic clocks. It's how I imagined the photonic quantum computer to look...

'Dateline: January 23, 2004. NASA-supported researchers hope to improve high-precision clocks by entangling their atoms.

Einstein called it spooky action at a distance. Now NASA-funded researchers are using an astonishing property of quantum mechanics called "entanglement" to improve atomic clocks--humanity's most precise way to measure time. Entangled clocks could be as much as 1000 times more stable than their non-entangled counterparts.'

    Life's weird innit?

Quantum teleportation is a phenomenum that if I understand it correctly, can act over any distance instantaneously...(ie at infinite speed ie faster than light and anything else.) to quote from the associated article...

'Quantum entanglement essentially allows two particles to behave as one, regardless of how far apart they are. Photons can be entangled so that if one is vertically polarized, for instance, then the other photon in the pair is always horizontally polarized...'

Was just wondering whether other people think this fact is as amazing as I do?

I've nothing againstHarry Potter but when a publisher thinks the Icera Stone is in the same genre, saying we don't do 'fantasy'... well, it does make me wonder. I spose they must see so many Harry Potter Mark2's, everyone gets tarred with the same brush.

I've concluded it's necessary to say exactly what genre a book is in the introductory letter to a publisher, the problem starts when it crosses genres. Being compared to Jurassic Park, hmmm... I'm happy with that, though I like to think the I.S. has deeper philopshical foundations.

In the event I will probably publish it myself, to avoid these rather tiresome problems.

Here is the first mini clue to when Erica and Chris first met... (as promised to Dee).

'The past - you are breaking free… the present - a strong influence... and in the future - a different magic.’

‘Taurus is in ascendancy but Gemini rises and will come to the fore in twenty days.’

    (Chris is Gemini)

That clue was purposefully vague... congrats to you JohnK.. you got it right without needing clue I suspect. (For answer see comments on Chapter 20) or read the Tarot reading chapter - the Prediction.

The comments have been really helpful to date, and I think I have honed my writing skills a fair amount as a direct result of them - however I was considering stopping loading up chapters at this point. To date, no one has loaded up a whole novel on WW as far as I know.

I don't know what others think - or whether others would have misgivings of loading a whole novel prior to publication?

    Any thoughts?

Andrew, I think I'd have misgivings too, I'll buy a copy when it comes out.

Nell - naturally, when it is eventually published, you'll be first on the list for receiving a complimentary signed copy.

I would like to thank you personally you for all your fantastic comments and help to date - and sticking with all the Prologue and 21 chapters loaded up... hope it's not too frustrating for you to have to wait a while until you can read the rest?

    Andrew )

ps - If there are any publishers around who are interested in publishing the Icera Stone before I publish this myself, please contact me.

A big thanks to JohnK for sticking with the story so far and all the comments... very much appreciated!

And also a big thanks to everyone else who have read it and commented, and also to those who've read it and not commented - it's been brilliant!

If anyone has any questions about the plot I would be pleased to answer them in this Forum or on Email.

Andrew, I’m sorry to see that you won’t be uploading any more of The Icera Stone. I was really getting into it but I can understand your reluctance to put the whole novel on the site.

I’m feeling much the same about Paying For The Gallery but don’t know when to stop! I have no idea how many people are actually reading it. The number of people who comment has dropped to a small band of regulars and their feedback has been incredibly helpful.

It’s a bit of a dilemma, is it not.

I shall wait impatiently until TIS is published and read it from start to finish.

    Cheers
    Dee.

Dee - A big thanks to your comments too ... I am looking forward to reading the rest of your uploads to date Paying For the Gallery ... I see you have already reached Chapter 11.. I've been off-line for a while, (a short of self-imposed exile) but I will get round to commenting again soon, I hope.
