I'm very pleased to say that the North American Actors Association is including my new play, The Fig Tree, in a season of rehearsed readings this month at the studio of the Soho Theatre, Dean Street, London.
The play has been previously posted here in the Theatre Writers group, and has benefited from many helpful comments and suggestions, for which I remain most grateful.
The reading is at 7:30 on Wednesday, 18 August, and is directed by Nathan Osgood; a donation of £2 is requested at the door.
I wouldn't want anyone to think I'm billing this as the theatrical event of the season; but I thought I should post this news here as a spur to others--I mean, if I can get a reading of my play, then so can you!

OOPS: Correct time is in fact 7:00

Brilliant Tim, well done. Wondered where you'd got to lately.
-
Fantastic news Tim- it's a great piece of work and thank goodness it's being exposed to the public so quickly, given the topical (red hot topical!) nature of the play.
-
Tim, I haven't written a play (yet?) but was intrigued by if I can get a reading of my play, then so can you! Could you tell how the reading came about?

I meant: '...could you tell us how the reading came about.'

Tim,
That's wonderful! I'll be there. I want to see your play anyway, but, I'm also potty about all things Native American and therefore have a double incentive to come. I'm intending to have an evening of Native American poetry here in St Albans later on this year if you're interested.
Best,
Mike

That's great Tim. I'm going to try and get there.

Nell, I love the 'yet' in your note above--how I would love to see you turn your enviously talented hand to stage as well!
As for how this reading came about: I have WriteWords to thank. The NAAA (North American Actors Association) posted a call for new scripts with parts for North American actors here in WriteWords earlier this year. And even then, I might have missed it had Anna Reynolds not brought it to my notice. From there, it was the usual story: send of the script and go through the pains of the damned while awaiting a response--and this time, I got lucky!
And in all honesty, I do feel the feedback I had previously garnered from other WriteWorders during the making of the script helped shorten the odds (so thanks again to all).
Now, if we can just get a theatre to take an interest in a full production....!
Best
Tim

Tim, I can't be there but wish you the best of luck. It may throw up some good networking opportunities. (sorry about choice of verb!)
