Hi all, haven't done this before...a bit nervous!
Just wanted to highlight my new poem "Bindweed". Recently I feel I have been rushing my work, and it's showed. Perhaps this was as a result of posting a highly personal piece a few weeks ago, (The 53rd Reason), and then feeling that the follow-ups should be similarly intense, which was never realistically going to be the case. I'm also waiting for feedback from a professional Crit, which is always nerve-wracking, and makes me feel like giving up!
Anyway, whatever the reason, I feel a bit fragile and full of doubt about my work right now, so would welcome any opinions on this new piece. (But please be honest, too!)
Many thanks,
x

As Kate Bush sang to Peter Gabriel, tc, 'don't give up' (love that song - whatever happened to P. Gabriel?)
Know what you mean about the intensity and feeling the pressure (even if it's not real) that you have to keep the level of it up with every subsequent offering.
Will have a read

Thanks Wordy, I appreciate your support.
As to "whatever hapened to Peter Gabriel"....
I'm off to see him at Wembley Arena next Monday night, second time for this WWide tour and I'm already excited. (' Growing Up' is the new-ish album. Hard to get into, but worth the effort).
He's in brilliant, brilliant form. The concert involves him walking upside down, filming the audience, riding a bike, and climbing inside a clear ball 'walking' and bouncing it round the stage, (like a hamster in one of those exercise balls) He looks sooooo sexy these days I can hardly believe it (bald, stocky, with a grey goatee with a to-die for curl on the end - just my type!!).
Nominated for a Grammy last year, started a legal digital download music site, director of a web-based site so musicians can be in charge of the creative process more, still a major influence in signing world music through Real World...
Oh, and has a new baby son, Isaac.
Catch up on http://www.petergabriel.com
Anything else you need to know?!

Well, that's me told! :D I always thought he was a very sexy looking dude - interesting look that - bald with a curled goatee! Okay...whatever happened to Kate Bush? :P
I don't often buy albums - mainly because I usually end up regretting it because I'll only like one song out of 12. Saying that, I recently bought Maroon 5 and Scissor Sisters from just liking ONE of their songs and they were both probably the best albums I have ever bought (to date)(except for The Best of Pink Floyd) - absolutely brilliant. Will try and get a listen to some new P Gabriel material - he's got a very individual style which I've liked very much in the past - so I'll probably like it again).

Give him a try - there's also a greatest Hits comp out at the moment called "Hit/ Miss" which is worth a look if you haven't tried him for a while...
I recently took a great leap into the present and bought Elephunk by Black Eyed Peas 'cos I liked the sing-alongy single. I find it a bit sexist, but on the whole, I really like it! The..er...rapping?... (showing me age) is really clever. I also must try Keane who I'm hearing good things about - and I'm intertested in your comments on the Scissor Sisters who have permeated ito my consciousness..may have toi give them a try after your ringing endorsment..

Thanks for your really detailed feedback on Bindweed, btw, I am stunned by it. Will reply in more detail on the poem itself later as I'm a bit pushed for time now, but thanks so much!

Many thanks to those who have commented, very reassuring! Stupid to have such paper-thin confidence, but there you go. Hopefuly something that can be gradually remedied by the support of WW, so thanks again, guys.

tc, Keane are next on my list to buy their album. I've heard good reviews on them, have heard (not seen) them live and they're excellent and I've liked every song that they've released so far so I'm sure the album would be a good buy. Scissor Sisters - I find them very funky and eclectic in their style - imagine, Elton John, Sting and the Bee Gees rolled into one band (these are just my thoughts) - one hell of an ugly dude that would make but great music! :D Their version of Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd is brilliant. I highly recommend them!

Just found a free CD that came with the Guardian and a couple of Keane tracks are on it. I don't know, felt it was a bit dated somehow..perhaps I'm just too old for 'new' music now, everthing feels like I've heard it before, the last time round!! (can't quite believe I just said that!)
MInd you, true what they say about it all coming back if you wait long enough, I bought a 'Best Of' the Bay City Rollers the other day... roared with laughter at a lot of it, but still knew ALL the words - and the memories! And I note the Boomtown Rats have a similar one out, didn't like them much but, by 'eck, it do tek yer back!

tc - seriously considering changing username to 'Old Fart'.

But tc, isn't it the songs that you feel like you've always known them - although it's the first time you've heard them - that are the special ones? I like the words to Keane's songs very much and the melodies are as you say, familiar. All comes down to personal taste I s'pose. I bet you're not an old fart really...that title is reserved for hubby - he gets excited listening to Shakatak...errr...did I just admit that?

Yeah, I'm not giving up, I'l give the freebie andother go and see if it grown on me - stuff often does (er..has that come out right?)
Shakatak? Crumbs, I remember the name...have a terrible feeling they weren't even cool when they were contemporary, but then that probably means its OK to like them now - hip even. So he's probably actually ahead of his time...
Mine likes Procul Harum. But then he IS old..told me a hysterical story the other day about being on a bus in Brimingham wearing a kaftan that his sister had made for him out of some old curtains, (Julie Andrews eat your heart out), and a purple hat with a large feather.

heehee, tc...your other half into fancy dress then Were kaftans purple hats with feathers ever in??? Oh, bless their little old fart hearts. And no...mine is definitely not ahead of his time...he's not in this time or any time...awww!

I think we established that said garmet WAS once fashionable, but that it had been a time before I was even born...there's 14 years difference between us, it doesn't often show, but boy, when it does!
