Oooh, thanks for bringing that to my attention, Elspeth! :D
Although I must say, I don't understand this Most Popular List thing - as much as I value the comments already made on this first chapter (and I really do value them) there have been no other comments made. So what does being on top of the most popular list mean? That people read it, but didn't feel compelled either way to comment? Or they read it and didn't like it but didn't want to comment? Or they read it and liked it but didn't want to comment? Or they read it and liked it and didn't feel that they had to comment because it had all been said?
It's comments that improve a piece of writing. That's why we upload them isn't it? So that we can gauge people's response to our work? The Most Popular List doesn't help me in any way because 1. It doesn't tell me how many people actually read the work 2. Doesn't tell me how many liked it. 3. Doesn't tell me who many didn't like it. 4. Doesn't tell me how many just clicked on it - read the first line and decided it wasn't for them. 5. If one of the criteria that enables piece of writing goes on the most popular list is the number of comments one gets (which I believe it is) then this is surely encouraging people to concentrate on the most popular - which leaves other work out in the cold with hardly any comments.
In summary - it's comments that are needed and should be encouraged - not Most Popular Lists.
So to me, personally, the Most Popular List is totally unnecessary.
I bet you wish you never mentioned it now, Elspeth!
But I really do appreciate the sentiment! Not having a rant at you, m'dear! Just having a rant au generale!
Come on people...comment!
Love always and forever
