Hi all,

Just joined the site on a temporary basis for the moment - so introducing myself. I have posted a piece in the children's section, as the Novel and short story areas looked a little daunting at this stage. Did check out the Film script area as could do with feedback on a script I did for the competition "Final Draft" - and may even look to doing some collaberation if anyone is interested.

Have read and commented on some work and will aim to try and upload a children's story each month and also a short story.

On Novels - which I am sure everyone is working on at least one - do you all post your work on the site and if so what, if any, are the rules?.

Mine host also mentioned the "Lounge" but I have not found it yet.

Hi Brian,
welcome to the site! Everyone here is so friendly and welcoming, I'm sure you'll find your feet in no time.
On the issue of uploading extracts of novels, everyone is different, but most of us do it. I'd say anywhere up to around 3000 (maybe 2500) words at a time is acceptable, any more than that and you risk really reducing the amount of feedback you receive on an upload. Remember to make sure you only make your work available to ww members rather than 'everyone' when uploading to avoid any future problems with rights etc, and you should be all set. (Oh- and when you do upload, if you aren't a member of a group- post something in the introduce your work forum for people to see so that you can at least get some feedback, but really, a group is the best way to do it )
As for the lounge, I may be wrong, but I don't think it's accessable to temporary members, sorry.

I think Sazzy has covered everything you need to know. It really is worthwhile joining a group where you get feedback from people working in the same genre as you.

And the scary Lounge is for full memebers only but it really is worth upgrading if you're going to stick around because that's where it all kicks off! Only kidding, but there is loads of useful threads in there especially for when you're thinking of submitting to agents and publishers.

Welcome Brian - nothing much to add to the excellent advice above, except do shout if you need to know any more. It's certainly worth joining a group for giving and receiving feedback, as it tends to be most consistent and committed.
