    Posted a first line to my novel which i am currently revising. Having problems with the first line and I would like to know people's (does people's have an apostophe?) thoughts.

    Is this any good? I am uncertain as it comes across a little self-conscious to me, though it may be because I know to what I am referring.

    Thoughts welcome and it can't be more than 10 words long.
