Hi -- I've just put up a prose poem followed by the opening of a short story.
Even though I hope to revise and re-craft the short story material into narrative poetry in the near future -- general story-telling comments from the WW story folks would be much appreciated, if anyone's got the time/inclination to have a gander.
It's listed as 'Prose poem (untitled)'.
Thanks,
Smith
Oh, and, this is the definition of prose poem I was working with:
The prose poem is a hybrid, a mixture of prose and poetry. But of the two genres, it is much closer to poetry despite the fact that it has no obviously-stanzaic line breaks.
How does it differ from poetry?
1. not written in lines
2. does not use poetic meter
3. does not rhyme
4. images can be surrealistic
How does it differ from prose?
1. the narrative thrust is not its main element.
2. language and musicality are extremely important.
3. often shows an inward, psychological view
