No, cos I dunno what rtf is.

Rich text format I think it's one of the options for uploading work, or it used to be in the good old days of WW.

Maybe you could just email it to me, I tried copying and pasting it but it all went pear shaped in word. Even the print format isn't great.

I'll have a bash at reading it though I'm snowed under with work at the mo.

The first thing I noticed though was that it's only 64000 words, which even for literary is a little on the light side. I totally understand the feeling of not knowing how to make it better, probably why I've been writing mine for 7 years! But you might find that after writing your second book you'll have some new idea or way into reworking it.

Yes, that's true. But I don't believe in set word counts. The story is finished when the story is finished. I had been aiming for 70,000, though.

It doesn't sound as if the wordcount was a factor in any of the reactions to it, was it, Sarah?

Which (if I'm right) just goes to show that if a story's the perfect length for itself, no one's reading it thinking 'too short' or 'too long', they're too busy savouring the pages that are there.
